Megastructure Arc 2.0.8
Arc 2.0.8 adds multi-machine project sync and Windows computer use. Capsules continue a project rather than making another copy, clones find their rooms, and Mac agents can reach Arc while it is hidden or minimised. Codex uses one connection, and adapter edits preserve your config files.

Projects across computers, computer use on Windows
Windows 10/11 (64-bit), or macOS 11+ on Apple Silicon. Bundled Local AI requires macOS 26+. Computer use requires macOS 14+.
Highlights
- Projects continue across computers. Importing a capsule continues the existing project, preserving record and agent IDs. A task completed on either computer stays done. Run arc capsule sync on each side to exchange capsules through Git; it does not commit or push for you. Update both computers to 2.0.8 before exchanging format 2 capsules.
- Merge limits are explicit. Deletions do not travel. If both computers changed the same record, an archive or retraction wins over an edit; otherwise the newer edit wins for the whole record. Skills preserve their replaced text, and room notices list changed records and fields. Importing the same or an older capsule again changes nothing. Use --as-new when you want a separate copy.
- Computer use comes to Windows. In a Full Access room, an Arc-managed agent with an image-capable model can see, click, type, scroll and drag in apps. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+. stops control; touching the mouse or keyboard pauses it. A status-bar light shows when an agent controls the computer. Windows security prompts and administrator windows are refused. Typing is refused when Windows reports a password field or cannot verify focus.
- Known Windows issues accepted for this release: the focus check is cached for up to 150 ms, so characters can reach a field that becomes a password field during typing (12 of 17 in a test). Repeated Alt+F4 can stop after the first window with an incorrect administrator refusal; it does not reach the desktop’s Shut Down dialog.
- A fresh clone finds its room through Git history and remote addresses. An explicitly linked folder still wins; forks and unrelated projects from the same starter do not match.
Fixes and refinements
- On a Mac, Arc keeps answering agents while covered, minimised, hidden or on another Space. Computer control resumes only after five seconds since your last key or click, on both Mac and Windows.
- Codex CLI and Desktop share one Arc connection. Adapter edits preserve private file permissions, symlinks, read-only files and your other settings. If an older Arc changed your Codex file permissions, run chmod 600 ~/.codex/config.toml once.
- Stopped Windows commands no longer leave Microsoft Store app-alias processes running. Archived projects no longer receive agents through old folder links, Escape closes the Send to menu, and routine disconnected clients no longer fill the daemon log with tracebacks.
